AMAZING. STUNNING. SPEECHLESS. KOREA HAS BEATTEN SPAIN. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That has to have been one of the most exciting and nervewrecking games thus far in this year's world cup. To be honest, after Spain dominated the first half, I was a bit skeptical of where or not we could win this game. Granted, most of Korea's goals have come in the second half, but then again, Korea had never been controlled like they had been in that first half. In the second half however, Korea came back, and by then, it appeared that Korea had actually possessed the ball longer than Spain. There were some shady calls by the ref which prevented Spain from scoring on two occasions. It's hard to determine whether they would have actually scored though. I'm sure everyone in Spain and their mothers will be complaining about a specific call for days.

The game ends and neither team has scored. Overtime. 0-0. Double overtime. Still 0-0. Which meant penalty kicks. Everyone in the room kinda shivered in fear when they realized it would come down to this. I mean Korea had goofed on two occasions in earlier games on penalty kicks, and Spain had actually won one of their last games on a penalty kick shootout. But our goalie Lee Woon Jae had been money all night and I had trust in him.

The shootout was tied at 3-3. And after Seol Ki-Hyeon hit one in at 4-3, Spain is..blocked by Lee. MONEY!!!!!!!! And our captain easily knocks it in for the win. FREAKIN AMAZING. This is the furthest Korea has proceeded in the world cup, EVER. No one ever expected them to get this far. My living room went insane. Everyone was jumping around giving high fives, and after I jumped up and down a few times, I just kinda sank to my knees in relief. The stadium went insane. I mean one's heard of hometown advantage, but Korea had home NATION advantage. To have an entire country rally behind one team is simply amazing.

Korea takes on Germany on Tuesday in the finals. That's going to be another tough one, seeing as how they barely inched out of their game with the U.S. The Germans dwarf the Koreans too!! I mean they dwarfed the Americans fer crying out loud!!

So many funny moments in the game. Not from the players, but from my family.

My bro: "Stupid number 13!!! He sucks so much!! I hate him!!!"
Dad: "Shuttup, you couldn't run for five minutes on that field." (dead serious)

Me: "Motherf-......I mean...."
Mom: "Why you keep calling my name?!?" (Shoots me an evil look)
Me: "ahem...."

Anyway, what a night. Last night I stayed up till 8 over at Amith's watching both the England/Brazil and US/Germany game, while playing a buttload of Halo. Sheesh. World Cup fever. And I'm loving every minute of it.

Hey blog, Got back from hanging out in the Berkeley/Oakland area. Went to karaoke at the music box with Dave, Bbin, Vivian, Dahye, Jason, and Fil. I called up Korey because he was at our crib, and we brought him out too. Freakin Sherry and Tinwin were supposed to come out to, since they know Korey and that way he'd feel more comfortable, but nnnnnnnoooooo...they didn't want to. Hehehe.

I must say when I got there, I realized I wasn't really in the karaoking mood. It seemed like we were doing it mainly for old times sakes, since last summer that was mainly what we did. And with Vivian leaving on Sunday, and Fil leaving next Thursday, it seemed appropriate that we karaoked at least once before they left. Once we got there, it got better though. Surprisingly their English language collection was actually updated and recent. I sang some songs like "In the End," (Finally LINKIN PARK!!!) and "Wherever you will go" in my Calling voice. Hahah, and as usual Dave was using songs like "I want it all" by O-town, and "Peaches and Cream" to hit on Vivian. On Peaches and Cream, he was straight up bumping her with his booty. She moved across the room. LOL. And during the KISS song "Because I'm a girl," Dave once again delighted us with his girly monologue. And yes Bbin once again sang "I love you" the only Korean song he can sing.

Ahh yes, anyway, showed the gang my crib afterwards. I think they were pleasantly surprised with the quality of my new joint. Tis a huge improvement over my last place it is.

Got the gang home and here I am.

Btw, does anyone think I'm weird for wanting to watch Lilo Stitch?

Korean soccer fan club!! Only Janet and I so far, and I'm sure Peter will want to join. Still thinking of a name. I suggesting Club Hway-Ting (FIGHTING), but Janet didn't think it was creative enough. No way in hell we're doing AHN JUNG HWAN OPPA SARANG.

Thoughts?

Wassup blog.

Yesterday, I was gonna play ball, but was convinced by Bbin, Sherry, and Vivian to go watch Bourne Identity with them. I was a bit hesitant because the movie didn't like that interesting really. Whenever a friend suggested we go watch it, I'd always be like, "Eh...I dunno it looks kinda uninteresting." Well needless to say after watching it, I kinda had the same sentiment coming out. The movie was hardly boring, but it seemed merely adequate in every sense. Nothing was too exceptional. Just as I had expected.

Afterwards, Dave, Bbin, Sherry, Tinwin, and Vivian and I just kinda hung outside doing absolutely nothing. Reminded me of old summer days when we do absolutely nothing. Seriously I think I hang out with the most lackluster crew of people. LOL. But it wouldn't be compplete without Fil Wu and Jason joining us in our void of nothingness.

When Dave, Tinwin and Sherry realized they were being swept into this void of nothingness, they pulled themselves out and escaped while they still could. On the other hand, the rest of us decided to try our luck at In 'N Out. It was pretty much the same thing while this time, half the time we were eating. We left In N' Out in hopes of doing something, but just ended up talking outside of the restaurant. Geez....LoL.

Anyway, just finished watching American Beauty. What a jacked up movie. I'm not getting why these jacked up movies are winning the Oscars. American Beauty, Gods and Monsters. I'm not saying the movie was bad necessarily, but someone really needs to explain to me the beauty and depth behind the movie, because I simply wasn't seeing it. Entertaining yes, but it seems to just poke at true brilliance without ever really getting there. Theme: There's beauty everywhere. Especially in the midst of seemingly surface aspect of life, and even in the disturbingly or deceivingly one as well. Whuppeee. But maybe it just hasn't hit me.

There's a lot about movies that bother me lately. I mean bad movies aside. Do I even have to mention the titles? Like Mike?? Blue Crush?? This isn't too surprising though, because there have always been horrible movies. I shouldn't judge, considering these movies haven't even been released, but still, Lil Bow Wow schooling Allen Iverson?? Geez.... But what I think makes me angrier is that it seems as if these movies are getting progressively worse, yet people are spending more and more money on them. Scooby Doo made nearly 60 million in its opening weekend. I'm reminded of when Scary Movie had the biggest opening weekend for a R-rated movie until it was dethroned by American Pie 2. What more, is that if one looks at the upcoming releases, one'll be amazed by the number of sequels coming out. Before, it appeared as if sequels were spaced out over time, to build anticipation and make sure that there an effort was even made to live up to the originals. MIB2, Stuart Little 2, Austin Powers 3...say goodbye to creativity and say hello to the big bucks. And wtf is with trailers these days?? They might as well tell me the entire movie. Trailers are supposed to give me an idea of what's supposed to come, and actually make me want to go watch the film. If I see the entire story of "Blue Crush" in the trailer, why in the world would I want to watch it?? (Besides the fact that it looks like something a group of teenage girls in San Diego wrote while drinking Frappuccinos and discussing Ricky Martin's ass.)

I know a lot of you are thinking, "Phil?!?! Dude, movies have been crappy and have been in this state for quite a while dude. Nut up or shut up." But I wouldn't be so angry, if the number of movies that I've enjoyed have been decreasing. There have been plenty of surprises. Spider-Man, Episode II, but even these pale in comparison to what good movies were for me a few years back. Blah I'm ranting. I have no clue what I'm saying. But that's probably already obvious judging from what you guys just read.

Btw, check out Tim Truong's blog (link on the left side of the page), and say "boo..." Anti-Korean blog you say!!! Boo to you!!! Want to support the red, white, and blue, but doubt that they even have a chance at beating Germany?? Double boo to you. Go US!!! GO KOREA!!! Hope it's both of them in the finals. So Korea can use the US like gul-lehs and wipe the floor with them. LOL. Jp, but I hope both win their next games. FIGHTING!!!!!!!!

Blog!!!!!!!

Reason I didn't blog yesterday is that there was nothing to blog about. Just played ball last night until the lights went out on the courts. That's the second time that's happened. Kinda freaky actually.

Anyway, guess which country's team is unstoppable!??! Dae Han Min Gook!!!! Yeh that's right baby. Still in shock over this morning's game. An incredible game it was. If any of you didn't watch the game, you guys have missed out on one of the most amazing sporting games this year. Freakin amazing.

In the beginning of the game, I thought we were off to a good start when we had a phat opportunity to score with a penalty kick. And who was going to be taking the shot?? None other than pretty boy Ahn Jung Hwan. Guaranteed right? NOT!!! The freakin pretty boy misses!!!!!!!!!!! I was about to run up stairs and yell at Janet over AIM saying that her pretty boy missed a freakin penalty shot.

After Italy scored in the first half, the 12th minute I believe, I thought already that Korea had lost. I mean, in single elimination rounds, the team who usually scores first wins. Besides, Italy was doing an awesome job of keeping from Korea from scoring. And Mr. Ahn Jung Hwan proceeded to go on and miss at least 5 other shots in the game. When the game was nearing its end and the sun was coming up, I was getting ready to go back upstairs and sleep. By then, I had been jokingly rooting for Italy because I wanted to root for the winning team. But at the last moment, Seol Ki Hyeon scores a goal with two minutes left in the game. TWO MINUTES. Freakin incredible. The crowd erupted and needless to say my bro, my dad, and I woke the entire house up.

Korea goes into double over time, and with only three minutes left in the game I thought we were going to go into a shootout which might have meant trouble seeing as we had already missed two penalty kicks in the last couple of games. But with three minutes left, the ball is shot from the corner and none other than Ahn-freaking-Jung-I'm a pretty boy who has played horribly this game but decides I'm gonna make it up to Korea and Phil Nho in Pleasanton, CA for choking by headbutting this here ball into the net-Hwan hits the goal of his life when he heads it into the net. At that moment, it was easy to say that that was what sports was about. The crowd exploded into cheers and all you saw was an ocean of red bustling and waving their flags. Fireworks shot into the year as Ahn Jung Hwan collapsed onto the field with the rest of team jumping on top of him. The Italian team just kinda froze up wondering what in the world had just conspired. A shot is seen of the President of Korea clapping from the sky booth and Gus Hiddink (the coach) walks onto the field with the biggest smile I've ever seen from him the past couple of weeks. Korea (a team that has only one single elimination game thus far in history) has just beaten three time world champion Italy. That's what it's all about folks.

LOL. Overdramatic but coool. KOREA FIGHTING!!!!!!!! They take on Spain next. They should win considering Italy is a better team than Spain. But you never know. I mean there have been plenty of surprises thus far. KOREA FIGHTING!!!!!!

Too much coke is bad.

Sup.

Yesterday played pool with Dahye, Viv, Duke, Law and some other peeps. I think we kinda went as part of the process of slowly introducing some of the asian youth culture to law. Hahaha. At one point in the night he said, "I haven't seen so many asians gathered here before." Not exactly true, I mean he goes to Columbia for crying outloud, but if you were there you'd be tempted to say the same regardless of you history with Asians.

Twas coo seeing Dahye and Viv again. Nothing has changed about em. Which isn't a bad thing of course.

Afterwards we just got some boba (another new experience for Law even though he didn't try any) and just chilled at a Cyber Cafe in Milpitas.

I just realized how many people may not be here this summer. Viv's going back to WA in a few days. Fil Wu is going to Japan for work. Lawboy is heading off to Hong Kong. And countless others who will be taking summer school. I'll be in Berkeley most of the time this summer too. Kinda like that line from Godfather II or III, "Right when I think I'm out, they pull me back in." Or something like that, forgive me I haven't seen the trilogy. :O

Today my freakin chunk of a brother woke me up at 9:30 (I slept close to 4) to go out for breakfast.

After church a buttload of church folk came to my house because of some dinner, so my house was swarming with kids and youngins. Chaos I swear. Dave had just come back from Irvine and swung by my place and just kinda lounged around. We met up w/ Viv and got some McDonalds. I went for the ice cream, but ended up getting a freakin Big Mac Meal and an ice cream cone. I'm such a chunk. I swear, my goal for my six pack is such a wavering battle. One minute I'll be working out, doing my cardio, the next I'll be eating Big Macs at 11 at night. Chasos I say. Chaos.

Saw Men of Honor at Viv's afterwards. Pretty good. A little overdramatic at times, but still worth watching I guess. Plus Cuba and De Niro. Gotta love the acting baby.

Anyway, what is in store for tomorrow?? Only time will tell!
